PhD Opportunities

We are always looking for highly motivated students to join TARFS Lab and work on fluid mechanics and machine learning. Together, we aim to advance the fundamental understanding of complex fluid problems and develop new simulation paradigms. If you are passionate about these fields and interested in learning more about opportunities within our group, please reach out to Antonio Attili with a short cover letter and your CV.

There are several funding streams you could explore:

  • School of Engineering PhD Studentships and Scholarships: The School of Engineering offers several studentships and scholarships for excellent candidates. Learn more at this link.

  • EPSRC CDT in Machine Learning Systems: The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Machine Learning Systems is recruiting its second cohort to start in September 2025. Applications are now open, and guidance for applicants, along with information about CDT studentships, is available on the CDT website.

  • Self-Funded Students: If you already have a scholarship, for example, provided by your government or a funding council, and are interested in our research, feel free to get in touch to discuss potential projects.
